Additional modeling tips for SketchUp users

1) Complete the drawing. I find that models that are half way through a redesign are the worst models to attempt to print because there are too many gray areas.

2) Complete the drawing. In general I find that making pieces of the model solid always helps in everything I do. The most obvious example in Architectural models are doors and windows. I prefer to draw the door frames as a component, and drawing the component as solid on all sides really helps when I make changes to the window because I do not have to worry about holes appearing in the frame. When I move to print the model having all of my components solid helps to identify my problem areas because I can eliminate components as problem areas.

3) Complete the drawing. When I am handed a model to prep for printing the first thing I do is walk through the layers and components filling in missing faces. If I am going to print the model as an exterior I often seal in rooms individually as I walk through the model.
